According to Highway Superintendent Ron Hathaway, the only town road near a water course is Adirondack Loj Road. This road sees more than 60,000 cars per year filled with hikers and skiers on their way to the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) and trails. Near ADK is a bridge over an AuSable River tributary. Near the bridge is an eroding hillside on State Forest Preserve land contributing sediments into the road ditch, and a sandy vehicle turn-around area on ADK property. All run-off sediments enter the tributary.

Thanks to the highway crew and the 5th Platoon 2nd squad of Moriah Shock Facility, the ditch was re-graded, turned out before the turn-around area, lined with fabric and hand-placed rock. Benty's landscaping will hydroseed the eroding hillside, and supplied the project with eight spreading yews for placement near the bottom of the hill. ADK volunteers seeded, mulched, and planted seedlings near the bridge, and the road department will remove sand in the turn-around and replace the material with gravel.
