WADHAMS CRIB COMPLETE

If you drive along Route 22 just south of Wadhams, where the road crosses the bridge then bends around the river and up the hill toward Westport, you can see the completed log cribbing project. The structure protects a badly eroded streambank, and a water and sewer line. BRASS coordinated the project, Moriah Shock inmates and ENCON Supervisor John Northup built the structure, and the Westport Highway Department handled and transported all the materials. Cedar logs were donated by International Paper Company, and most of the stone was donated by NYCO. Project expenses were paid by a Clean Water Act grant obtained from Lake Champlain/Lake George Regional Planning Board by the Essex County Soil & Water Conservation District.
